Commercial Seating
Brief: To rethink how commercial office furniture looks and how it could be manufactured locally from a network CNC routers and upholsterers.
Result: The ‘Tasking sofa’ is a mid-century and Danish inspired design, updated with a contemporary finish and a versatile surface to support the way people use seating for various tasks.
The split/folding cushion creates a shorter distance from the edge of the sofa which therefore generates a more ergonomic position to work from and discourages slouching when carrying out work. Foam on the ‘tray side’ of the sofa is denser than the foam on the rest of the sofa – this is because a firmer seat is more ergonomic when working.
The swivel out surface/tray is simply pulled out towards you until it is at the desired position (subtly locks every 36 degrees due to the magnet mechanism).
